Moonvine Morning Glory?

I planted moonvine morning glories in a long narrow planter and its climbing up a trellis however it really hasnt started branching at all. Its one long vine. I have read articles of pinching back the vine to promote branching. Does anyone have any expierence from this? Or is it a myth?

Mine grow without much help at all. Plenty of water with well drained soil. I don't pick up any dropped flowers, I let them stay and it reseeds itself. It should grow on it's own. As for pinching, I've not seen it help nor hinder. I cut mine back to the ground every winter as it dies off and each spring, it's all over and doubled up.

You may want to clip a starter and root it in a vase then plant it among the other. Takes about a week to get it started.
Reply:nice information here

Reply:I have pinched off vines and at the pinch point it should branch off.
Reply:Pinch off just the last few leaves. It should branch faster.

Besure you are feeding it well.
Reply:I have cut those things back a million times and they grow like crazy! Just keep doing what you are doing and be patient. If it's still not doing what you want it to, PINCH IT! lol(Try one piece %26amp; see what it does....you can't hurt it.)
Reply:get it out of your garden if you don't keep an eye on its growth before you know it will take over any plants growing near it, we had it and it killed off our passionfruit vine
Reply:you havent said how long ago you planted it.how many..give them some time and some food they will thrive and grow tall dont pinch a vine like that.it isnt needed
